Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Academic City, formally known as Dubai Academic City or DAC, is located along the southern borders of Dubai. In the pursuit of intellectual growth and to accommodate the needs of the diverse academic community, this extraordinary project materialized in the year 2012. It was officially launched in the year 2007 by the TECOM Group. Dubai International Academy City has consistently ranked among the top 10 global free zones in the Middle East. In addition to the academic campuses, it has a dedicated 3 million sq. ft. area for research and development centers.

There are several transport links for public transportation in Academic City. At least one bus stop can be found near every campus. RTA bus no. 365 runs on the Academic City route, which includes a few interchanges such as Al Rashidiya Metro Station, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and International City.

Places of Worship

20 minutes of driving will lead one to the Gurudwara Temple in Bur Dubai. Churches nearby include a few in Deira, 23 minutes away. There is a mosque in the neighborhood which is situated in the complex of Dubai Men’s College.

Situated near one of the entrances, the campus of Zayed University is one of the largest developments in the area. With a capacity for 4,000 students, it is built on a total covered area of 100,000 sq. m. The development also has a remarkable portfolio of top-notch primary schools for foreign students. The schools here include Lycee Francais International Georges Pompidou, German International School Dubai, and Deutsche Internationale Schule Dubai.

A medical facility exists amid the campuses. However, there are many health centers present in Dubai Silicon Oasis, which is only a short drive away. These clinics and hospitals include Medicure Polyclinic, Al Faqih Medical Centre, Magnum Gulf Medical Centre, and Aster Clinic.

The nearest mall-like experience for people living here is the Souq Extra which is located near the gate of Dubai Silicon City. The 3 floor Avenue Mall is scheduled to open soon in the same area and will serve as an ultimate shopping destination for the Academic City inhabitants.

Academic City frequently holds educational or corporate events such as career fairs, workshops, competitions, and creativity festivals every year. This gives students insightful exposure to their industries and helps them stay in tune with the regional as well as global requirements for development. Academic City is holistic in terms of educational choices but has limited housing options. There is a good chance that during peak admission season, many of the available accommodation options get occupied
so a prospective tenant might be left with very few options. This is expected to improve with the completion of The Myriad student housing community and other future housing projects.
